When Pavlos exhibited his first work by poster paper in 1963 at the Salon des Réalitès Nouvelles, the art critic Pierre Restany was impressed by the pioneering concept and execution of his work. Restany classified him in the movement of the New Realists, but at the same time he praised the uniqueness and originality of Pavlos’ work.

In 1980 Pavlos represented Greece in the Venice Biennale and in 1985 he presented the “Flags of the Countries of the European Community” at an exhibition in Athens, the then cultural capital of Europe.(see photo below). In 1992 the City of Paris organised a retrospective exhibition of his work at Sorbonne and in 1997 the J. F. Costopoulos Foundation organised his first major retrospective exhibition in Athens.

His works can be found in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée d’ Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the European Parliament in Brussels and in museums of contemporary art in Europe and Latin America. He has also realised a series of important exhibitions in Europe, mainly in France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Holland and Italy.
